tsmall07 49 #1 Posted April 29, 2015 It's billed as a 520H and it has 520H on the hood, but my 520H doesn't have the stick going into the floor in front of the seat. That looks like a gearshift lever. Is it a manual trans model with hydro lift? Thanks in advance. Tyler
scotty 252 #2 Posted April 29, 2015 (edited) Ive seen a few 520hs with the motion lever on floor. Should also be a lifting lever nearby if i remember correctly Edited April 29, 2015 by scotty
Bert 760 #3 Posted April 29, 2015 I believe its an 88 or 89 520H, the 90 and up had the motion control on the column. That pic is just the older style hydro control.
daveoman1966 3,738 #4 Posted April 29, 2015 (edited) This is either a 1988 or 1989 Model 520-H with the motion control lever protruding from the middle cover plate. The hyd lift lever is on the left side as in theis pic (your pic). There is also a Hyd engagement control lever. not to be used for a PANIC STOP. PARKING BRAKE... the little tab on the tunnel cover plate (as corrected by another member). ps... If you want to UPGRADE to the later model style with the control levers on the steering column, I have the parts to do that from a 1995 model that I parted out a while back. contact me here: daveoman@windstream.net Edited April 30, 2015 by daveoman1966
tsmall07 49 #5 Posted April 29, 2015 Definitely an in-depth reply there. I'm not going to be getting this tractor, I just saw it online and was curious.

Theroundhousernr 589 #7 Posted April 29, 2015 (edited) That is the hydro engagement lever in your pic, however, it is no parking brake. The parking brake is the little tab to the left. You depress the pedal and flip that up like most other wheel horses. The tractor will roll away after some time unless the brake is put on. This is either a 1988 or 1989 Model 520-H with the motion control lever protruding from the middle cover plate. The hyd lift lever is on the left side as in theis pic (your pic). There is also a Hyd engagement control lever...aka Parking Brake. ps... truckin88 104 #8 Posted April 29, 2015 If it is an H is will have a std front axle the hc had the swept
shallowwatersailor 3,213 #9 Posted April 29, 2015 I use to own an '89 and a '90 520-H. In my opinion, the motion control lever on the '89 (like the one pictured) with the motion control between the legs was easier to operate as opposed to on the steering column.
AMC RULES 37,102 #10 Posted April 29, 2015 It's a great candidate for a foot control conversion.
shallowwatersailor 3,213 #11 Posted April 29, 2015 I found the ad on CL. It looks very clean and well maintained, although the hours aren't mentioned.
snowmoboyle 33 #12 Posted April 30, 2015 I have a 89 520H Pictured, and my father has a 97 520H. I prefer the handle that was just like our 92 312 Classic. Just seems more natural!?!?
tsmall07 49 #13 Posted April 30, 2015 If it is an H is will have a std front axle the hc had the swept I'm pretty sure mine is an H, not an HC and it has a swept axle. It's a 1993
bmsgaffer 2,043 #14 Posted April 30, 2015 (edited) I'm pretty sure mine is an H, not an HC and it has a swept axle. It's a 1993 All 520's 1991 and later had the swept axle with dash mounted motion control (right behind steering wheel). 88 and 89 the 520H had std axle with the tunnel mounted motion control, the 520HC had swept axle. Im not sure where the 1990's fit in the above... Edited April 30, 2015 by bmsgaffer
gwest_ca-(File Mod) 10,921 #15 Posted April 30, 2015 I thought 1990 was the first year for the black hood decals. Maroon up till then. Garry

Garry Correct. 1990 was the first year that it was branded a "Toro" Wheel Horse. The 1990 had the motion control lever on the column and a swept front axle without steering reduction.
