wallfish 16,980 #5 Posted April 13, 2015 Remove that craddle mount and just bolt the engine to the frame unless the 14 you have is from a craddle mount tractor. Doubt you would want a craddle mounted engine for a pulling tractor. What are you doing with the old 8hp Kohler? bmsgaffer 2,043 #6 Posted April 14, 2015 If you are getting the 14hp from a C-141, it will likely have a cradle. You can either get the bigger oil pan and mount it up to the frame like the earlier C-160's, or I have seen people turn down aluminum or steel mounts to replace the rubber pieces in the shaker plate to effectively make it a solid mount. I even asked someone about what size to make them, but for the life of me I cant find it. Hopefully someone will chime in here. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
Racinbob 11,034 #7 Posted April 14, 2015 Do you already have the 14hp for it? If you're still looking it would be best to make sure you get one that is not designed for the wobble mount. I think that's what Brandon means. You can't just swap oil pans. I learned that the hard way. I bought a C-121 and wanted to eliminate the wobble mount and I already had the larger oil pan so without thinking I pulled the small oil pan and....whoops!!!.....it won't work. I ended up making solid spacers to replace the rubber. Another big plus (in my opinion) is the oil capacity. 2 quarts vs 1 1/2 with the wobble mount oil pan. 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Racinbob 11,034 #13 Posted May 18, 2015 Maybe I'm not seeing this correctly. That looks like a 14hp with the oil pan for a non-wobble mount setup. If that's the case it should be bolted directly to the frame. Before the wobble mounts the 10-16 K's bolted directly to the frame and the 8hp had about a 1" riser plate. The two right side holes hung over the frame but there were two threaded holes on the bottom of the oil pan and bolts came up through the frame into them. I'm kinda wondering about your shaft height. DadsToyMomsHeadache 3 #16 Posted May 18, 2015 (edited) you are absolutely correct I used the 2 holes on the frame and its hanging off the frame on the other side about 1/2 inch I used the spacers that was on the old cradle mount so the oil cap would clear the frame, Also the height of the shaft is a little higher but does not rub up against any metal that would cause it to fray and break.
