How do you guys make your coffee?

Woke up early this morning at 5:30 to check in for a Monday morning flight (and get upgraded seats :eusa-whistle:  ). That took just a couple minutes and then I made coffee. During the week I stop at 7-11 for a cup each morning but on the weekends I love it from my old camp percolator. Its permanently stained on the inside and the pour spot has a dent but she make the best cup-o-joe ever! We have a Kurig machine but the coffee is never quite strong enough since the water passes thru the grounds once....and its not as hot as I would like it either.

I've been a Chock-full-of-Nuts brand coffee drinker for 15+ years now, tried a few others but this brand became my favorite.

That brings back some great memories Mike. We now use a typical low buck coffee maker but I remember using a percolator for years. The very best coffee was made over a campfire on a damp chilly morning and drank from a tin cup (carefully).

Mike-

There is nothing as good as the taste of coffee from that old perker. We have gotten lazy and no time to wait so we use the kerig with dunkin donuts one cuppers. Having one right now

When you come to the WHCC show this year Mike, I'm always up early and I will have a pot of coffee percolating on the stove.

Here's my set up for now. I too like Chock full-o-nuts.

I remember my parents had an orange electric percolator with a tin grinds holder on a single 7" long tube thingy that would set inside the machine. Never tried it, didnt drink coffee back then.

I am going to have to be on the look out for a real perc!post-2771-0-00475100-1428844766_thumb.jp

I normally drink what ever Dark Roast is on sale with just Half & Half -no sugar, which most of the time is Starbucks. I load the coffeemaker at night so I just have to push the button at 5:30-6:00 am. Spend some quality time with Oke' before his being fed and walked for the first  time of the day. When I'm ambitious, I'll use the French Press on weekends.

But for a  real coffee treat we go to Cassatt's Kiwi Cafe in Arlington, VA. I enjoy the Lamb Meat Pie and to accompany it, they make a "Flat White" that comes close to what I have had "Down Under" in Australia and New Zealand. I was introduced to this treat for the first time in 2003 (and hastened back in 2007) when I visited my friends in both countries. Speaking of "Oz" and "The Land Of the Long White Cloud", a few other cheap treats that we don't have are Tui (NZ) beer and McDonald's Aussie Burger as well as a Lamb version. Micky D' AU still do fries the old way without the nineteen ingredients that go in ours in the USA! Then there is Cadbury's "Cherry Ripe", ...

That does bring back a lot of fond memories of camping way back in the day with Mom, Dad and all seven of us kids. Even as a little kid I loved the smell when Dad was makin coffee with the same exact percolator that you have. Dad was in charge of breakfast ALWAYS when we went camping. I don't know what it was about the scrambled eggs and bacon he made but they were the best ever!

Good grief, don't you guys have anything better to do than talk about how you make your coffee?  This is one of the most inane threads I think I've ever seen on any forum, anywhere, and ...

Here's my preferred setup:

post-4371-0-06114300-1431695019_thumb.jp

This is from our place in Virginia, where I escape to be at one with my C-105 and assorted other friends whenever I get a chance.  The coffeemaker is an old drip unit, don't even know where I got it.  It's made by Comet ("The Popular Aluminum", "MADE IN U.S.A."), and makes about 5-1/2 cups of coffee, just enough to keep me from drinking too much in any one day.  There's also an automatic coffeemaker thing there, I've never used it.

The brand of coffee doesn't matter to me much any more, all the major brands taste great in the right setting.  This one is the house brand from our local Giant supermarket, but I like Folger's and Maxwell House as well.  Back when A&P was around, I used to love getting a bag of their coffee beans and having them grind them for me right at the checkout.  Supermarkets are too busy handing you discount gas coupons these days to care about grinding coffee for you.
