varosd 1,185 #2 Posted April 4, 2015 Yours might be the first HF twin cylinder repower here on RS! was it in stock at HF?, I have not seen one in person. Is it lining up with the PTO? more pictures! I'm sure a lot of folks might go this route

shallowwatersailor 3,213 #4 Posted April 4, 2015 The same engine is used in the new HF "Big" generator which I have seen at two stores. It looks good. It also appears that "Blackhoods" have a bit more headroom in the hood area. Is that right?
Theroundhousernr 590 #5 Posted April 4, 2015 Yea, this is great! You can be the flag ship for this engine swap. I have been curious about this myself like, How do they hold up? Do they start well in cold climate? Can they take the side load from the wheel horse pto? Most people have said that the bearings are not made to handle the side load force so an electric pto is required. Cant wait!
Sparky-(Admin) 21,510 #6 Posted April 4, 2015 Very cool swap! So what's the HP supposed to be? Are the Predator's cloned after a Honda? Mike........
bmsgaffer 2,046 #7 Posted April 4, 2015 I think its supposed to be 22hp. Im subscribed!
Catmanii 36 #8 Posted April 4, 2015 Will most likely be so much lighter then the KT17 you will think you have power stearing and that's a good thing.

GT14 243 #10 Posted April 4, 2015 Yours might be the first HF twin cylinder repower here on RS! was it in stock at HF?, I have not seen one in person. Is it lining up with the PTO? more pictures! I'm sure a lot of folks might go this route Had to order it, 6.95$ and it came in 3 days for SC I will have to move it off center about 1 inch to line up the drive. I will be taking more pics as I move along. Need to get an electric PTO so side load won't bite me. If you use coupon code (21741290) you can get it for 524$ Please let us know how it goes. Very curious. I will update as I progress.

sgtsampay 117 #15 Posted April 4, 2015 Very nice to see it running. Hmm, looks like you got a great machine. Were your valves slightly to tight for the specs? Also how did or are you doing your 3hr no load break in? I'm going to be test running mine tomorrow so yeah. Congrats on your build. Can;t wait to hear how it mows. Spareparts 84 #16 Posted April 5, 2015 I'am very curious as to the size compared to a Vanguard 18hp Briggs, thinking about one for a Toro Greens mower. They have them at one of the KC stores and thanks for the coupon #.
Theroundhousernr 590 #17 Posted April 5, 2015 Anyone figure out if the side load pto will work or will it have to be an electric clutch?

cleat 6,684 #19 Posted April 5, 2015 Muffler looks looks it was made for the wheel horse except it blows out the back. Is there a way to change that I wonder ? I am also following this thread in case one of my 520's blows up an onan. Cleat
GT14 243 #20 Posted April 6, 2015 Muffler looks looks it was made for the wheel horse except it blows out the back. Is there a way to change that I wonder ? I am also following this thread in case one of my 520's blows up an onan. Cleat I am going to extend the pipes to get hood clearance and flip the exhaust to the front, probably add a 90 deg pipe to direct it down.
GT14 243 #21 Posted April 12, 2015 Some Progress Drive pulley drilled and bushed Motor mounts made Test fit of drive belt and Hood (hood will have cutout replaced)
GT14 243 #22 Posted April 16, 2015 (edited) Thought I would freshen up the paint But first I needed to repair the hood that a previous owner cut into. This is the way I got it. Made a repair patch. Welded it in. Edited April 16, 2015 by GT14

GT14 243 #25 Posted April 18, 2015 Figured I would freshen the frame as long as it was apart. Motor mounts are installed (welded them) engine runs so smooth I don't thing vibration will be an issue.
