WTG,  Always good news to hear that we saved some old iron....or aluminum.

Glad to hear it also. I did something dumb with my throttle linkage from the governor to the carb the last time I had my 416H apart. I had the linkage arm on the carb side on the wrong way. Its kind of hard to explain but there are two bends in it. I tried to loop it on the second bend which messes things all up. I just wasn't thinking and in a rush. This mistake caused the same symptoms you describe. Good luck and I can try and take some pictures if it helps!

Thanks! Now all I gotta do is replace the oil filter mount gasket, since after fixing the screw issue, it was still leaking. I got the new gasket, but I'm not sure what side goes on the filter housing. Is it the side I've pictured? 779ccd3e0a83b6c5135fcca6a9819817.jpg

A good used P220 is your easiest and quickest bet.

Suggest you view

Being able to bolt it right on and have all gauges work is an enormous plus.

I don't remember which side of the gasket goes toward the filter, but it should clearly only fit one way to properly  align the two bolt holes and the openings .

Do you have the rubber gasket that seals the filter to the tin?  This should be installed to improve the cooling of the rear cylinder.

Ok. I found which way the gasket goes. Should I apply some adhesive to it or something? Or do I just press it together between the housing and block?

Put it on dry. Im not a believer in sealers. That's what the gasket is for.

Ok. Got the gasket on, but now one of my wires that goes to the oil pressure switch has cracked. Will I still be able to start the tractor if I don't hook up the oil pressure switch to the wires?

Fix the wire.

Is rather not if I didn't have

to,but something tells me it's one of the safety toggles that won't allow the engine to start

Well, still no luck. I got the new gasket, but tightened the housing down as far as I could, but every time I start it up, oil comes spraying out from the filter housing. I give up :(

Don't give up.  Were both the block and filter housing surfaces clean.  Look for a crack or void in one of the sealing surfaces. If there is just a chip out of the surface, it can be built up  with  steel DEVCON and filed flush

From what I remember they were both clean. I think it might be the bottom bolt on th3 housing that needs tightened. Its hard to tighten well though because of its location

Are you sure the oil is coming from the filter housing? Behind the flywheel there is a ring seal behind the trigger ring that seals oil from the crankcase. When I got one of my 520s that seal was missing causing oil to spray from what appeared to be the filter housing and I know you mentioned earlier that you had the flywheel off.

Is it a plastic ring seal? I bought one of those a while back

You should have 2 rings behind the flywheel, one that gets pushed in flush around the crankshaft to seal oil and the other goes in front of it, it spins inside the ignition trigger module and tells the coil when to fire.

Repower my 520h with the Honda GX630 wondering how to hook up the vacuum gage?

Unless the Honda has a nipple for connecting a vacuum gauge, it'd be a challenge for two reasons: One, the normal placement is a nipple on the air cleaner housing somewhere between the air filters and the choke plate--some larger/older engines had them on the carburetor body--so you'd have to install one; Two, would the "trigger" level of vacuum that turns on the light be the same for both engines?

The purpose on the Onan was to detect increased vacuum due to the air filters becoming clogged--it's essentially a "service the filters" indicator.

You should go to the Files/Manuals section of the forum and do some searching (and learn/use the various search options). Look for documents containing either the model of your tractor or of your engine. There is a lot there.

The Onan had a hose connection to the inboard side of the air filter element.  Outside, that hose ran to a sensor to detect too much vacuum and turned on a lamp indicating a restrictive filter.  The Onan also had a nipple that was in the intake manifold with a hose connected to the HP gauge which is actually a simple vacuum gauge.  As the throttle opens, vacuum is reduced, so with wide open throttle there is little vacuum and the HP gauge reads 100%.  You should be able to drill and add those nipples somewhere.
