steve k 82 #1 Posted March 26, 2015 Here are some pictures of my quickie lawn ranger clean up. I wire brushed the hood and fenders then painted, bead blasted the wheels then painted and install new tubes and rubber. Took the 5hp briggs off cleaned with carb cleaner and painted. Pressure washed the rest really good and painted. Made my own thumb screws for the hood with the lathe. Put on some decals I had left from another project(I know they're incorrect). I also removed the lift arm. Kind of a use what I had low buck build up! The engine is crazy reliable and starts easy so I did not tear into it and the transmission is flawless with no leaks so that was left alone. It will be used at antique engine shows I attend to pull a sulky around. Being short it fits in my truck with the cap on and is easy to load/unload.
Terry M-(Moderator) 2,177 #2 Posted March 26, 2015 Looks like you may have mounted a gas tank to the underneath of the hood?? If thats right...may I see how you did it?? The rest looks good for a quick spruce-up
steve k 82 #3 Posted March 26, 2015 You're right Terry, it was like that when I got it. It is just a plastic tank with two straps around it and riveted to the hood, holding it up against the hood. The briggs didn't have a tank bracket and someone switched the suction carb to a float style to make room under the hood. The hood is a bit of a pain to remove now though as the fuel line needs to be unhooked(thinking about getting a quick disconnect off ebay) If I have it off I will snap some pics. steve k 82 #9 Posted April 3, 2015 The black on the raised letters is just a good sharpie marker! Was very easy took about ten minutes?? overall probably took 2-3 weekends.
