Al C. 1,428 #26 Posted March 16, 2015 Nice looking tractor - a lot of traction! Your's is the configuration I am thinking of. I'm going to give the mole traps a try first. I'd rather prevent the problem than repair it, if I can. Thanks!
Ed Kennell 40,466 #27 Posted March 16, 2015 I fought with the moles/voles last year. Check this thread.
953 nut 57,878 #28 Posted March 17, 2015 Love those new LEDs! The only time roll my yard is if I over-seed and disk it up. However I do make a little game out of running over the mole tunnels, sort of a game of skill and kill.
Dhodge 528 #29 Posted March 17, 2015 Nice story and nice tractor. That thing will go another 30 years---That's what you would expect from something made in America.
Butch 194 #30 Posted March 17, 2015 The yard is pretty nice, but unfortunately the moles like it too. We border several acres of woods and I have not been able to keep the moles away. I'm figuring, a 650 pound roller will make quick and easy work of those pests. This will be the first year I aerate and de-thatch. I'm anxious to see what they do for the health of the lawn. The Wheel Horse should make all of this pretty easy. I have moles also. I hit the hill with the tire and if the hills come back, then I bring out the mole traps. I actually aerate twice a year and fertilize at the same time. I've had hard compacted soil that grass hated. But my Bluegrass loves my aerated soil.
Ed Kennell 40,466 #31 Posted March 17, 2015 Hey Al, the snow finally melted on the north side of my house, so I gave the Commando 8 a chance to pull the roller up the steepest part of my lawn. The 8HP thumper in second gear really sounded happy pulling the roller up the slope. On the flat part it was third gear at idle.
