motor12 367 #1 Posted February 23, 2015 I was cleaning trans parts for my RJ58 and on the fill plug I discovered it was vented, had a 1/8 inch hole thru the center of the plug. Is this normal, can the venting be done thru the shift lever opening. This fill plug hole seems like an invitation for water in the trans.
Racinbob 11,251 #2 Posted February 23, 2015 I've never seen that. The shifter certainly isn't an airtight fit. I think it would be a good idea to replace it.

It's funny what you find when cleaning dirt, crap, and grease off these old tractors, you wonder what people were thinking...
Coadster32 793 #4 Posted February 23, 2015 I'd replace it with a solid plug as well.
