motor12 367 #1 Posted February 22, 2015 What are the torque settings for the 1/2 in bolts on the case of a 5003 RJ58 trans, I did a search but no luck. Thanks
Racinbob 11,251 #2 Posted February 22, 2015 Good question. All I see in the manual is "torque all bolts on both side covers evenly". That's what I did and just went by feel. I did use thread sealant on them because the threaded hole runs all the way through. Maybe one of the transmission gurus here will have a number for you.
stevasaurus 22,883 #3 Posted February 22, 2015 Bob's right. I just snug them all first and then go around and tighten "maybe" another 1/4 to 1/2 turn. They are easy to strip, and you do not want to do that. Having them all about the same is more important.
motor12 367 #4 Posted February 23, 2015 Thanks, didn't think about the thread sealer but I will use it.
Racinbob 11,251 #5 Posted February 23, 2015 I didn't think about it either motor. Not until I had a tiny bit of seepage from a couple of them. It may have been attributed to using stainless bolts I cleaned the threads real good and a little Loctite 592 did the trick.
