Dealer ordered attachments

I met with a good friend of mine today down in NJ while on a work related trip that has been endless to say the least. This friend of mine is a TORO dealer down there and was telling me that until he placed his most recent order, he was still able to get attachments that would fit the 315-8. Well when he placed his snow thrower order last week, TORO came back to him and said that they are NLA and the inventory is gone. Sad Sad Sad I wonder what this will mean for EBAY prices on attacnments now.

As with anything when they are no longer available they go up. If I had one I may start getting the common wear pieces if available.

I wonder what it means in terms of parts in general...... :banghead:

Hate to say this, but this summer went to order the mower deck renforcement plate and it was NLA.

My dealer said "Parts are no longer being made for Wheel Horses and when what was left in the system were gone".........

I dont think things like belts, filters and other consumables will stop being made though.

Maybe they'll FINALLY let some people reproduce some parts or use the logo "legally". :banghead: (sore subject with me.)

you would think they would keep availible a strong parts and service line for the next several years to accomodate the new tractors and attatchments that they just stopped production of,in short i would think they would have kept parts and service availible for eight or ten years after the last of the new tractors are sold.besides there should be profit in it for toro to do so.

Kinda odd I guess...I have a friend who works at a metal shop in South Bend...(It's early & the brains not kicking the name out at me)

They did most of the metal fab for Wheel Horse & continue to do it for Toro.

I know they still produce a lot of the deck shells & tons of other parts.

My friend actually sent a pic the other day via the camera phone of a skid with nothing but 48" sno blade mold boards on it....lot's of them. :USA:

So I know this place is still produceing parts for Toro atleast. :banghead:

I think they are doing this on purpose. The Wheel horse tractors were too good and lasted too long. Therefore we were not replcaing them every 5-7 years like good consumers of disposable products. This way we will have to buy new eventually becasue we can't get a new deck or some other attachment.

Given the state of the industry as shown by the throwaway tractors at the big box stores, I agree with you, Greg. :banghead:

BUT....the "we" that have to go out and buy new because something isn't available AIN'T the "we" that belong to Red Square. I've got a feeling as long as this group is around (and may that be a long, long time!), there will be a way to keep our magnificent machines running. Some guys are already manufacturing various replacement NLA items, and I somehow think that trend will be growing! :omg:

As David said above, though, this might be a good time to lay in some of the wear items while they are still available......
