boovuc 1,090 #1 Posted February 13, 2015 This is a pretty lame mod but it was bothering me to see the big opening around my gas cap under the seat of my loader tractor. (520-H) I put 26 x 12 x 12 tires under it so I raised the rear fender pan and needed to cut out the gas cap area of the fender tub to unscrew the gas cap. When everything was put together, you could really notice the large hole behind the seat. So.........I appropriated some aluminium test panels at work and spray painted one side red. Next I adhered some pressure-sensitive adhesive to the opposite side of the panel then adhered magnetic strips over that surface. Pics are of how the seat and hole appeared with the seat in position and without the seat on the fender-pan. The panels front and back and the panels over the holes. Looks nice but again..............rather lame!
brandonozz 168 #2 Posted February 13, 2015 It's only lame if you don't like it and leave it there. Looks pretty good to me and i'm sure looks pretty clean when the seat is down.
AMC RULES 37,141 #3 Posted February 13, 2015 Humm...didn't think of that aspect of raising the rear fender. Not so lame, if it leads to something better...thanks for sharing.
baerpath 517 #4 Posted February 13, 2015 The gas tank could be raised with the fenders.
boovuc 1,090 #5 Posted February 13, 2015 I saw that done before too, (raising the whole fender tower with the tank), but raising just the fender pan has been done before also. The lame mod is actually just covering the holes with the thin magnetic aluminum panels. If anyone needs a quick source for the thin magnetized vinyl swatches I glued to the aluminum panels, just visit your nearest automatic car-wash every morning until you have what you need. They get blown off vehicles everyday!
shallowwatersailor 3,213 #6 Posted February 13, 2015 Another source for the magnetic panels would be a local hardware store. They sell magnetic strips to block off ventilation registers for unused rooms of a house.
