Mid/rear cultivator help

Hey all I just scored a nice AC-675 cultivator set, but the lift arm is missing and didn't know if someone had any pictures and dimensions so I can make one up. Thanks everyone for any help you can offer.

I have an angled link, has a number on it...5581 The measurements are:
A= 10 1/2"
B= 6"
C= 4 3/4"
pin to pin= 9 3/4"

You saw the lift link in the manual?

Garry:  I  was looking for this information also.  What is A , B and C  on the lift arm drawing for  5581?

Thanks Garry!   I sent C Series 14 a note about the measurements applied to a drawing.     I think Live4outdoors and I need the same information.    It would be nice if we could somehow  create a file for these odball pieces that has  the Wheel Horse  drawing and part number  with the measurements need to make one.   Many of the pre 1965 tractors and implements had parts,  lift links,  plates for the frame, etc,  that  could be remade fairly easily  at a welders shop or machine shop if we only had some actual measurements to go by.

The measurements look great but not sure what they are without a diagram...I believe it is a flat bar angled at the middle according to the manual diagram. Thanks

That's actually a great idea, starting a file with diagrams from parts as they're requested...I actually thought about converting this set to the ac-653 by estimating the bolt on brackets vrs the quick attach set that came with them.

10-1/2" overall length sounds right for pins 9-3/4" center to center.

The bend would be 6" from one end and 4-3/4" from the other end.

Thanks Garry, I think I might make a cardboard template tomorrow and see if that would work, that makes sense. The only other thought I had was 10 1/2 and 6 from ends to bend center and 4 3/4 was maybe the depth to figure out the angle. Thanks again for your time and thoughts

I looked through all the two piece cultivator set manuals this am and found that there are only two Part Numbers for the  mid-cultivator lift piece that lifts the cultivator.   The AC-67 Cultivator  1960-1962  Part # was 1949.

That part had holes on each end of the lift piece for 1/4 x 20  bolts that would use two 1/4 x 20 nuts on each bolt to hold in place.   The later model cultivators (AC-673, AC-675, etc.)   had studs welded in on the lift piece that would take push pins to hold in place rather than  1/4 x 20 bolts and nuts.   The later model number was Part # 3777.

Removed inaccurate drawing. Correct dimensions are posted later in this thread

Lane Ranger how tall is this Lift bar? Can you figure the Angle degree?

Draw a straight line across your paper 10 1/2" long. At each end of the line draw a vertical line up the paper. Measure 6" from one end of the 10 1/2" line, at this point set the rule at  4 3/4" rotate it up until the end of you ruler meet the vertical line.

That is you angle. I could give you the angle, but I would have to go hunt a protractor.

Thank You Lee, knew it had to be simple to figure. 📐📏

I made this part exactly to measurements. It fit on a 8-1/2x11 paper. Way too Short to even reach the lift on 856 tractor. If I attach to tractor and drop it than add an additional length of  bar to the Cultivator, it will not lift. Could someone post a picture of the actual lift bar with measurements?

This is the part made by Lane Ranger measurements. The bottom bar is wrong angle and was one I had lying around as I tried experimenting to get this to work. I know the manual only shows one bar to use. Also I tried turning the whole cultivator so that the lift was on top but that wouldn't work without it hitting the steering under engine. And it didn't make sense to me how it could lift in that way. Angles  Angles, lol.

I believe I have the AC67 model because I have the flat vs angled rear hitch bar like on AC673 and later. Seems that was only difference in models. Item #15 was only part I am missing.

WH315-8:    I want to apologize to you for the bad information I posted that I did not correct.

***   I will now ask the moderators to remove that drawing so no one else gets bad information.

I do not recall all the activity associated with trying to find the right demensions and way to make that piece for the AC-673  lift bar attachment piece but I know it was not right the first time.

I do have pictures of the correct one that works on the mid-cultivator.

I do not have the angle of the bend but I am hopeful that the photos will help you.

You are correct that the drawing I posted made the lift bar way too short.  Here are the photos I took this am.

Hopefully, this will help you and again I am sorry I did not get the drawing removed so correct information could be provided to Red Square members.

Thank You Lane Ranger for prompt reply and great detail. I can draw it out and figure angle with your measurements.

I do notice that your attachment has the lift angled back whereas mine angles forward.  Any chance you know what year yours is? I may have to lengthen the bar on mine but at least I will have the correct drop length and angle.

I will have to try on my 701 but I wonder with the different front axle vs on 856 if mine was for the 701 and my lift point could go on top as in the parts diagram.

Yes  my short,permanent link (where the leift link piece attaches) on the midcultivatorMine will work on my 701.

 I  do not know the year my midcultivator was made and therin is the problem of  making a good ID on the part needed.

 I know of at lease three different mid-cultivators that i have seen.

Then again maybe I just have mine upside down!   At least from your drawing posted mine may be.

Also note that the clearnce for the lift link when attached to the tractor has to be good under the motor.

That may be why I have my permanet link DOWN instead of UP on my mid-cultivator.

I did use these one summer in my vegetable garden about 60 by 100 with eight or nine rows of vegetables,    I did not llike the way the worked.

I use them only for show now.

I use a nine tine rear cultivator with weights and three different types of shovels.  Really cleans the rows of weeds.

Here is mine, I made your measurements out of cardboard to test. At least it's a start. Just confused how it would lift with lift on top. Seems to go opposite direction.  But the cultivator mount bar is angled in a way that seems link should be up. Bottom pic is from what I found online. Looks like I will go longer than 15in. I would assume that the lift goes on the rockshaft link closest to drive belt side.

I also only intend to use for Shows. I know this is simple, the angles are just baffling me.

This will explain part of my confusion since I did not know when my cultivator set was made.  I believe it is the earlier version but I used the 7-1722!

I have been trying to make the right one with combination of this later one and others I have for other attachments. Driving me nuts. Just can't get the right angle nor length to work the bar up and down.

So I think I may just weld on another lift brace the other direction like yours and than should be able to use this longer lift arm as yours. Than when I am at shows I will be looking for the setup like mine to know what I am doing wrong.

Here is another style that I thought the short lift bar would probably work on.

Yeah I sent 315WH-8  the other one that Lowell makes.    I guess this would have been for the early AC-673.    The problem is that neighter 315WH-8 or me knew which mid-cultivator we had.

When you look at the AC-673 Manual IPL drawing and the 7-1722  Manual and IPL drawing the solid lift link on the mid cultivator is turned down instead of up.

Makes it kind of difficult to know which mid-cultivator you have Mike!

 Lowell makes these now too.
