188fan 5 #1 Posted February 6, 2015 I have, what I believe to be, a 1964 854. I have noticed a tractor on here that is a 1963 603 and the hood appears to be identical to mine. What year hoods will interchange on my tractor?
Big-Game 91 #2 Posted February 6, 2015 I am pretty sure the hood for a 854 is a little longer (maybe 1 inch?) because of the engine and air cleaner. The 603 hood will rub on the air cleaner and not fit right. If you can not find a correct 854 hood, some people alter the air cleaner to fit the smaller hood. 64s 83 #3 Posted February 6, 2015 Big Game is correct. The 854 hood was stretched and is specific to that model.
wh1076 1 #4 Posted February 6, 2015 Also the 603 hoods were like the lawn ranger hoods. They did not wrap around the gas tank like the 854 hood does. the 603 hoods actually went around the steeering column.
ri702bill 8,101 #5 Posted February 6, 2015 After I completed putting a 1979 C-81 8 Speed rear in my 854, I ran it with the shorter Air cleaner assembly and hood from a 702 - you need both parts to do that. The 854 hood is longer and has the two U-shaped stiffeners at the lower side edges. Bill
