varosd 1,185 #2 Posted January 25, 2015 a lot of the parts diagrams don't always match the actual years of the different decks, blades, throwers or they kept the same pictures and changes parts numbers. I used stainless steel hex bolts from under the deck and secured them with nylon lock nuts for the spindle shrouds. you deck model should be: 05-42MS04
gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,107 #3 Posted January 25, 2015 The online parts lists can be confusing because they are shared by similar models. The illustrations are general in nature. The 42" decks have the height adjuster on the right side. (Left and right always from the operator's position) The 48" decks have the height adjuster on the left. Only the 48" decks have the reinforcement pan and the belt covers are bolted to it. The 42" decks have the covers bolted to the mower pan. You may be able to identify your deck by comparing the spindle assemblies. There were changes to the shafts and bearings with the last having a metric ID. Let us know what you come up with. zieg72 209 #4 Posted January 25, 2015 You have a 05-42MS01 parts breakdown show the 42" and 48" side discharge pictures as being the same. Your Toro Dealer will know what parts are right for your specific model. I just sold 2 42" decks and they were both like yours pictured with the deck height adjustment on the discharge side

gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,107 #6 Posted January 25, 2015 Here is a bit of info on installing the top pulleys. Make sure the pulley will freely spin on the shaft before adding the lock washer and nut. Good location for Never-seize so the pulley can be removed later without damage. They often seize to the shaft with rust. Garry
