BairleaFarm 340 #1 Posted October 22, 2008 Ive got a 48" deck from the 80s I think. It mows fine but physically hurts you when your using ig because its got so many holes. I dont need it. For 1 ive got a nice 48" deck and 2 its to big for my yard. What would you do? 1. Keep it 2. Try to sell it 3. Keep the good parts and scrap the shell 4. Part it out and sell it Ive got next to no room and need the space. I know its not that big when standing on end but still.
Nick 13 #2 Posted October 22, 2008 If the deck shell is that bad I would part it out. Pull the spindles/pulleys plus the mounting hardware can come in handy also. All that takes up little space. And if thats still in the way then spindles normally are in some demand. Scrap the shell but the price of steel it aint worth much now.
T-Mo-(Moderator) 4,562 #3 Posted October 22, 2008 It mows fine but physically hurts you when your using ig because its got so many holes. Are you saying it has holes so big that it throws debris through them? I would do as Nick suggests. It's just a deck and if it's that bad, why keep it around. Remove the good parts and get rid of the shell.
BairleaFarm 340 #4 Posted October 22, 2008 Are you saying it has holes so big that it throws debris through them? Yeah, When im using it you must wear jeans, and boots. Very har on the legs. Keeping the good parts is kinda what i figured do. Does the 32" decks take a shorter spindle than whats on the 48"
catman81056 3 #5 Posted October 22, 2008 I might be interested in a spindle if its the same type as the one on mime. I bottom of the shaft "D" shaped?
refracman 167 #6 Posted October 22, 2008 The 36 side and rear take the same splindle. The 42 side, 42 rear and the 48 side take the same splindle. The hanger assembly is the same on all for C series type attachmatic. As for the 37 I do not know.
Sarge 3,464 #7 Posted October 23, 2008 Send/bring it up here, I'll tig up those holes so it's like new . I hate to see any decks scrapped, especially a 48" model . If nothing else, a spare shell would be nice ... Sarge
