WORKING ON MY 1992 310-8 PARTIAL RESTORATION

WINTER IS HERE AND STARTED WORKING ON 1992 310-8 PROJECT. DISMANTLE SOME OF IT TO CLEAN AND FOUND SOME MINOR PROBLEMS,  HOOD HINGES WERE EGGED OUT AND THE SEAT MOUNT HAS METAL FATIGUE. HERE ARE SOME PICTURES.

Pins for the hood hinges, a common problem, drill 'em out and install bushings.

 

The steel under the pan goin' to need welding. You might add a piece of 16 ga CRS to strengthen the area.

 

Doesn't look too terrible.

I REPAIRED THE METAL FATIGUE WITH 2 WASKERS ON EACH SIDE, WELDED THE ORIGINAL METAL BACK IN PLACE. THEN WELDED  ONE WASHER ON THE TOP AND ONE ON BOTTOM. I DID WASHERS ON THE LEFT AND RIGHT SIDES OF THE FRAME RAIL.

Does indeed look good.

 

Steering wheel top center 'T' has to go! Glen Pettit's new insert looks great!
