Mr. 856 170 #1 Posted December 7, 2014 Inspired by bmsgaffer's post with him and his son I grabbed the camera as me and the boy ran out the door for a quick break in ride on the almost complete 856. I say almost because she still is a bit naked without her hood. This is 856 is my only wheel horse and it fell into my lap a few years back. She was stripped down and in between that and how she sits now has been a solid few years or more. I picked at it while buying our first house and also having our son 1-1/2 years ago. Its been a long slow project but im happy with the results and few modifications i made to make it my own. The 856 is my only tractor and mostly will serve the duty of dragging a trailer around and making runs aout back to the pile with lawn debris, etc and plowing/blowing when the snow flys. Here in CT you never know if your going to get inches or feet in a winter. I have mower deck but don't intend to mow with it. The K181S was rebuilt and so far hasn't skipped a beat. Probably ready for 1st oil change in a few more hours of run time. Between plowing with it last storm and the fun joy rides ive taken I would like to think i did everything right. Probably need to tweek the high and low rpms alittle bit but for no shes a runner and i haven't been pushing her to long. What my son doesn't know yet is that this will be his tractor someday. As long as im still on this earth this 856 isn't leaving my eyes and the both of us will build years worth of memories with it. Like i said this horse fell in my lap and the more i think of it the more im wondering if it was some "meant to be" thing. My son loves tractors so much its silly. They are his favorite thing. On a side note i appreciate all the help from members here that got me to getting the tractor to this point. I know i had a few hang ups along the way.

rollingflat 123 #12 Posted December 8, 2014 Great pics, keep up the good work with the boy and the horse! "Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not depart from it."Prov. 22:6 I believe that goes for teaching them about wheel horse tractors too!!
Mr. 856 170 #13 Posted December 9, 2014 I couldn't agree more. See that horse barn in the back round? That is exactly where he is going to be weekend mornings helping his mother shovel you know what when he is old enough. No video games for this kid. I didn't need them when I was growing up and he wont also.

Mr. 856 170 #16 Posted December 9, 2014 I like the wheel weights on the horse too, just picked up a set just like them today from a good friend. they came off a a/c tractor but dont know if thats the make. They were on the tractor when It became mine....they bolt on easy enough. id like to figure something for the front end. I have a nice front weight that came of a tiller and thought of using that. She needs new skins all around and I need to do something paint or powder coat wise and paint the hood still and then im calling it done. Thanks for all the nice comments!
