cleat 6,777 #26 Posted February 2, 2015 I prime before the gloss paints, IH red, silver wheel, and black. I do not prime before applying the high temp semi gloss paint or the cold galvanizing. All paint work shown is spray cans. Hood and fender will get sprayed by my neighbor who also paints cars on the side. Everything but the IH red is Rustoleum. IH red is Rust check brand from Canadian tire. Seems to go on fine and drys quickly. Cleat

cheesegrader 433 #29 Posted February 2, 2015 I am so happy to watch your progress. I've never done a frame up restoration- just fix the big problems and get back to work. I'm interested in your steering rebuild. Do you have any more pictures?

47JDG 65 #31 Posted February 3, 2015 (edited) The restoration looks great. Is that an Acreage 30m tractor in the background with the loader and cab, or is it a Mahindra? What do you think of that? Edited February 3, 2015 by 47JDG
cleat 6,777 #32 Posted February 3, 2015 Tractor is a Dong Feng 304. China built 30HP at the PTO. Tractor runs great, can sit for a month and will start instantly. I can run it all winter on one tank of fuel. It is amazing that a 3 cyl. diesel powered 5000 lb monster can burn less fuel than a lawn tractor. Snow blower is a Braber Equipment 72" with hydraulic rotation and deflection. It sure is nice to blow snow from the heat of the cab, even if I need to turn and face backwards. Zeek 2,286 #33 Posted February 3, 2015 Just out of curiosity you mentioned the rear. What the difference between the H rear and the HC Nice job on the resto
bmsgaffer 2,046 #34 Posted February 3, 2015 Over the years there were several different rear end gearing options for the hydros. HC usually was the highest offered speed somewhere around 7mph The C series eaton 1100's were somewhere around 6mph and the newer 520H's were somewhere around 5mph. cheesegrader 433 #37 Posted February 8, 2015 (edited) Your garage is cleaner and better organized than my office! I like the hydro pedal and the vented belt guard. Thats going to be better than new! With all the work you are putting in, I'm curious about your electrical system. I see the new terminals, connectors and fuse holders. What about things like voltage regulator, coil or starter? I know those parts are expensive. I just wonder how far people go in these kind of major rebuilds. Edited February 8, 2015 by cheesegrader

cleat 6,777 #49 Posted March 2, 2015 Just for fun I lined up the wheel horses. The front 520-H is complete, the center one is my 520-HC in progress, and the rear one is my 520-H that will be getting torn down and converted to be just like the front 520-H which is a 1988 model.
