Found a Rough Lawn Ranger

Recommended Posts

Terry M

you may have seen this one on Ebay..but being I make frequent trips to Iowa, I thought I'd go ahead and grab it.   Appears to be an early Lawn Ranger and The guy that I bought it from said his uncle bought it new in the early 60's. He wasn't sure what year it really was, but said it had been sitting a long time.    Looks to be in rough shape...but there's a good chance I may attempt a restore on it because I've always wanted one of these early rangers for my collection.

Here's a few pics of it when it came home :) .

Must be a very early 1962. Have only seen one lower 32E serial and it was 62-15649.

It also has the original front tires that you never see.

Thanks Garry , might have to make this one a keeper...although it's probably going to be hard to find some parts for the restore.

Yup, '62 with the solid front tires.

Good score!  That looks better than mine did when I dragged it out of a cornfield!  The tins on yours look straight, and I think thats the hardest part of any restoration.

Thanks everybody...at least now I have one each of the lawn ranger styles, a 62('62 & '63), a '64(only year of that style), Two 67's(65-67) and my current project, a 1968 Lawn Ranger given to me by Terry / Vinylguy.   :)

So.... I just got home with this. I been wanting to fix one up for my 9 yr old nephew. I need to do it in a hurry as I will be going in hospitol soon for my 3rd battle with cancer. You know the story. Was told it ran about a month or so ago. Not running now. I just got home with it so I haven't checked it out yet. Have never owned a Lawn Ranger before, and know nothing about them. Maybe you guys can tell me what I have here and any advice would be helpful as well. Seems to be complete with the exception of the seat. Going to need to pick one up somewhere.

I have what I believe is a 1964 Lawn Ranger.
I'm wondering how rare they are and wondering what it is worth in the original condition it is in now.
May possibly restore it when I catch up on all my other projects.
      Thank you!
