I hate that little neutral switch.  I have had several 8 speeds and always started with the shift in gear and the clutch depressed.  I also have a 1998 model and you would not believe how many times I go to start this thing and nothing happens....then I remember to put it into neutral.  The reverse problem happens when you put it in gear with the parking brake on-the engine quits.  It is obvious the the lawyers at Toro had their hands in this product design!

BTW, I met Tom earlier this year when he had a Kwik Way loader that I bought.  Nice guy.  I was amazed at how big the operation is at Boyden and Perron.

:USA:  :wh:  Craig I have been done business with them for years now. I have to say that They are the most honest and Helping people that I know. I know Toms  Mother Helen She told one time That when they could not sell W/Hose any more They all as family where very sadden to this news. They are real Tractor/Mower people. I have done a few engines from them and they all ways seem to have original parts on hand. Happy Holidays to u and your family. And I think u can always enjoy this Co. Gary   B...

Well I know about that neutral switch now. Jumping it out when your as big as I am AND the tractor has a snow cab is prolly playing with fire and it's prolly only a matter of time before I get the thing to lurch down the driveway without me. :angry-nono: I'm glad I found Boyden & Perron and I intend to do as much business with them as I can! I wish there were more outfits like them around.

This thread deserves reincarnation. TOM is a FANTASTIC WH enthusiast. His Dad ran the shop before him. TOM has the last 314-8 that TORO sent them still in the factory crate  high up on a shelf.(NOT FOR SALE!!!!!!)

A GREAT GUY!! I bought a NOS tiller a few years back from him. If you ever go there only ask for TOM. If he is busy wait for him. He really enjoys talking about WH tractors and has a head full of knowledge about them.

Thanks Tom for all you help and parts I bought over the years!

I might have to take a trip down or give him a call for parts or something. Nothing like my local WH/toro dealer. I can hardly get a part number from them.

You will not be disappointed. They still have parts or they can get them if needed.

I purchased my 314-8 new in February of 1996.  It's been a great tractor.  But a few years ago I had landscaping done and contracted for lawn service.  So the tractor has been sitting in the garage for a few years.  Bought a new battery.  It cranks hard, but won't fire.  Probably needs the fuel lines or carburetor cleaned.  It also needs the clutch shock replaced.  I have the new shock and belt.  Just haven't gotten around to replacing them.  Deck is in excellent shape with new spindles before I parked it.  Comes with the nice pull behind spreader that has only been used twice.

      Thanks for you consideration.

Hi! The shafts of my fathers old 314-8, deck number 73449 have worn to the point the blades don’t stay secured. I’ve struck out tonight trying to find a part number. If anyone can assist, I would greatly appreciate it.

      thank you,

10HP with 42” blade, C-85 w/cab & 42” Snow Blower, 315-8 w/Ark Loader. Ready for some snow ❄️. Last year had up to 14” in Ohio.
Snow cab windows were fogged up bad and I used MeGuires PlastX, this stuff was easy, apply like wax, rubbing it in and wipe off, amazing how it cleared that plastic window up.

      Hello All,
New to the group and looking for advice. My father was a devoted wheel horse enthusiast for many years. He only cut grass with a wheel horse tractor (rear discharge deck) pulling a Parker lawn sweeper. We have a lot of property and it took him a while but he was retired and loved being on the wheel horse. When he got sick, I had to take over all the lawn maintenance. All of our family lives close on the same road. At the time, I was responsible for maintaining 7 properties plus my fulltime job. Using the wheel horse was not an option for me so I bought a commercial zero turn mower.  Unfortunately, in 2017 my father passed away. I have all his tractors and it has been hard for me to think about what to do with them. He had 6 wheel horse tractors total. 3 tractors we used for cutting grass and 3 tractors are show pieces that have never cut a blade of grass. I have a few guys that have been asking me for years to sell them but I am not sure if I’m ready. I am turning to the group because I am lost at what I even have. Its my belief that the tractors are rare and the conditions are mint. If anyone would be willing to express their opinion and provide feedback I would be grateful.
