jeremyrschroeder 6 #1 Posted November 27, 2014 So going get some new tires for my suburban 400 - are the 6x12 Tru Power Carlisle Tires the only option there is? I can't find ANY others. Has anyone found any others they like? Have you found them cheaper than $60. Also is there a difference between the 6.00-12 and 6x12 tire size, if so what is the difference I see alot of people list both on that product 5233C3. I want to make sure I get it right. THANKS! The 6-12 is approximately 22.7 inches tall while the 6.00-12 is approximately 25 inches tall. Summit Racing has the 6-12 Tru Power for $58 plus $8.00 oversize shipping. They have free shipping over $99.00 so two 6-12 would be $132.00. But they don't carry that size tube! Miller has a Firestone Town & Country in 6-12 but it is about twice the price. Geno 1,929 #5 Posted November 27, 2014 (edited) 6-12 and 6.00 12 is the same thing, I have been in the tire business for many years. Both are 6" wide and fit a 12" rim, height is negotiable because the 3rd number is not there... A 7.50-12 would be a 7 1/2" wide by 12" rim and so on. The decimal point is in there to do half sizes so whether it is there or not the tire is 6" wide. Tire sizes are not absolute also, some 6-12 tires will have different dimensions than other 6-12 tires and works the same through all sizes. Drives me and customers nuts when we put a new tires on vehicles and they say it is smaller or in some cases larger than the old one that has the same numbers. The Duro HF252 6.00-12 is 25 inches tall and 6.1 inches wide when mounted. The Carlisle Tru Power is 22.7 inches tall and 5.7 inches wide when mounted. Duro does not sell a 6-12, and Carlisle does not sell a 6.00-12. The photo is from a vendor on eBay. It probably is not important on a 2wd tractor but makes a big difference on a 4wd tractor like the older Kubotas for their drivetrain to not bind. Yes, different manufacturers make the same size tires yet end up being different actual dimensions. For example, Kenda and Titan both make a 16X7.50-8 size turf tire but the Kenda is approximately 1 inch taller. Geno 1,929 #8 Posted November 27, 2014 (edited) As I said above, there is no set height in these tires. A set height would have 3 numbers in the tire size. When they went to a 3 number system, the (new) number was the first one telling you the height. There is absolutely no difference in a 6-12 (6" wide 12'rim) and a 6.00-12 (6" wide 12" rim), 6.00 inches is 6 inches. I think you are just missing the decimal point that can be removed and then a 6.00 would equal 6.0 or 6 when we are talking inches of width. Miller Tire has a page on this here - http://www.millertire.com/faqs/ FAQs HOW TO READ YOUR TIRE SIZE… If your tire size has two sets of numbers (6-12, 5.00-15, 11.2-24…) the first number (5.00-15) is the approximate width in inches; the second number (5.00-15) is the rim diameter. If your tire size has three sets of numbers (15x6.00-6, 26x12.00-12, 31x15.50-15) the first number (26x12.00-12) is the approximate height, the second number (26x12.00-12) is the approximate width, and the third number (26x12.00-12) is the rim diameter. John, do you happen to have a link for the tires summit racing has? I could use a set for the 59 I'm working on, I have had good luck with summit racing in the past on other tires. Tallest tire you can fit in the fender without mods. 2. Nice fit on a 7 1 /2" rim. 3. 6 ply. 4. Don't need chains.
