Geno 1,929 #3 Posted November 25, 2014 Never saw a white one before, did it come out that way?
gumshoes 200 #4 Posted November 25, 2014 No it should be red but the guy I got it from decided to paint it antique white. He did such a nice job I left it alone for now.
AMC RULES 37,130 #5 Posted November 25, 2014 What did you do... find a warehouse full of them things?
Geno 1,929 #6 Posted November 25, 2014 They are everywhere just not all the brand. The company in Taiwan made them with a lot of names on them, my dad has 3 of them on tractors, they just don't have the tag on the bottom. Would be easy to clone them except for the metal tag on the underside.
AMC RULES 37,130 #7 Posted November 25, 2014 Really?
Geno 1,929 #8 Posted November 25, 2014 (edited) Yes really. Mine still has the Made in Taiwan sticker on it right next to the tag. Edited November 25, 2014 by Geno

gumshoes 200 #10 Posted November 25, 2014 I don't know where you guys are getting your info. Bendix, an American company made the radios for several different companies. Try to find one right now. Hard to find.
Geno 1,929 #11 Posted November 25, 2014 I'm getting my info off of my radio.
Geno 1,929 #12 Posted November 25, 2014 Here are some pics, this one is all original and works. Also has the correct tag on it.
gumshoes 200 #13 Posted November 25, 2014 To have one with the tag is very rare. Your radio is worth some good money. I can't figure how that sticker as bendix is an American company.
Geno 1,929 #14 Posted November 25, 2014 Bendix probably had it made for them in Taiwan, nothing new there. Taiwan ruled the electronics end in this type of thing in the late 50's, 60's + 70's till Japan started to take over in the 80's. I worked for Sony Corp for almost 5 years in the mid 80's and learned a lot. You remember GoldStar electronics from back in the day? They led the world in that era for electronics and are still around. They changed their name to LG several years back... I would figure that if it doesn't have the tag it's not a as this radio was made for several different tractor companies.
gumshoes 200 #15 Posted November 25, 2014 That must be the correct answer. I Knew that Bendix had made them and I Knew that Bendix was an American company. They are however hard to find especially a real wheel horse one with a tag on it. In the last 10 years I have only seen 2 on ebay and one was mine. If you do see them they are listed as a Ford or IH brand. There is no way to tell if it's a IH , Ford etc as they were all made the same just different colors and decals. They were kind of crazy as it's an AM radio which when a tractor is running will have a lot of static and without a head seat jack, which most didn't have, you will never hear it. The guy who rebuilt mine added both a headset jack and a Ipod jack so you can actually use it. It sound great and with the headset on it is really nice. Without that it's just a novelty item . Coadster32 793 #18 Posted November 25, 2014 I'd call that color "Linen Beige", just to be authentic.
Geno 1,929 #19 Posted November 25, 2014 Happy T-day to you too! I don't know if the mount is original, it looks so and has rubber bushings in between the radio and mount, the bolts and lock nuts even look right but I still don't know. That one also has the headphone jack in the upper left and it works also.
gumshoes 200 #20 Posted November 25, 2014 It's suppose to mount directly to the hood with no brackets
