Here are the next round of questions.... It was suggested that I start a new thread to help generate possibly even more interest. As I mentioned, these are very general questions. They will get more specific once I see what the majority of the forums would like to see.

I voted for Kentucky, like to have it located in an area where travel time is a little more equally divided, not everyone is from the north east. my 2 cents

Understand completely. This is exactly the reasoning for the polls...

What is interesting to see are the similarities between the 2 forums. Each set of questions are generating similar responses with the answers the members are choosing from... That is a great sign everyone. I thought it would be completely opposite.

The only thing I am a little skeptical about are some of the technical seminars. The electrical one to be specific. Depending on how many people and their experience level it can be a nightmare without a very good instructor.  Just as an example, I went to a GM Training Center school to be certified and it was 8 days over a two week period.

I would think breaking that into several classes on different parts like starting systems, charging systems, safety switches and the really difficult one of reading wiring diagrams would be a better way to go. We all know that last one becomes a real nightmare with all the cobbled in repairs over the years.

All of these classes can get very complicated in a hurry even for experienced backyard mechanics. The simple fact that very few of these beloved tractors are still the way they left the factory, makes it more difficult to explain how and where to look for a problem.

As far as engines and transmissions, each individual one would have to have it's own seminar or the confusion would be more than a normal person could stand. So it would seem there would have to be quite a few conventions and a committed group of instructors to move from one to the next.

Here is another thing that might be considered by some of the members and moderators on this forum. Pin some information about these subjects for the seminars, like an outline of what each seminar will cover and rate them as to the experience you may need to get the benefit of the seminar.

Of course that would mean putting up some articles that would cover some of the basics of each area covered in the seminar. Now a lot of these would be covered in the manuals section already on the forum and links to specific information would be in these articles.

I would suggest a new section on the forum for this like "Seminar Primers" or such. That way there wouldn't be a lot of wasted time at the seminars bringing everyone up to speed and you would get all the questions that are difficult to explain without seeing what is being explained.

I realize this would be a lot of work but there are a lot of members and there are many talented people on here that could do their part and be glad to help. I guess I've done it again! :deadhorse::twocents-02cents:

Exactly why it is being done, in the fashion, it is. No one person can think of all items necessary or needed. Input from the members is what will help to make this convention successful. Lynn, you bring up some great points. I would guess, the forum has members, who are experts in the areas of electrical, mechanical, ect... While most garden tractors may be butchered, they still have, general electrical, mechanical, items that remain the same.

When you look into say electrical, as an example, say lighting becomes a topic.... Rewiring or trouble shooting. All models have lights, front, rear, ect. Some people may also like to have additional lighting, but may be a little on the skeptical side, on how to add the additional electrical support without placing the OEM components in jeopardy.

Expanding on that way of thinking, it becomes a simple way to break down each area/seminar the members would like to see. What is a big obstacle, in my opinion, as I mentioned to Craig and Wheel-n-it this morning. OSHA and MSDS governing laws that may prohibit some of the seminars inside a building because of potential chemicals or deemed "unsafe" practice in a building. Therefore, some seminars may need to be held outside. Making sure those seminars would have the needed support to keep it safe for all and ensure the teacher has the needed materials, makes for an obstacle that needs special attention.

You also bring up another good point. I sent Karl a pm to see if there would be a way to increase the amount of questions for this particular thread/topic. otherwise it will take a LONG time to get through these polls. I don't want to have more than 1 poll open at a time. Could become a little confusing and certainly a little harder to keep track of.

Keep them coming, this is how to start up a convention properly.... By allowing members to help logically think through certain areas, no one person, can possibly remember or do. It helps to sniff out the " I did not think of that" before a convention.

Still needing some additional imput team... We had more voters from Poll one. If we are to get this going, I need your input to structure this around your feedback.

I am thinking Thanksgiving and the Christmas rush has slowed the interest of the polls... The current number of votes is far less than the 1st round of polls. Suggestions?

I think that slows everything Rob.  The cold weather sure doesn't help either, especially for me. post-13404-0-24500000-1417964432.gif
