grnlark 487 #1 Posted November 21, 2014 I've had this Cub for years and never really did much with it other than drive the kids around. A few weeks ago I decided it needed a new look. Aside from the new rims and tires, I modified an aftermarket front drop axle to rake the nose 2.5 inches. I added the front plate under the grill to give it a smoother look too. The skinnier front rims are from a 49 Baird Beaver.

CasualObserver 3,408 #5 Posted November 21, 2014 Looks nice, but I actually like the original look better on those. Nice custom though. Enjoy it!

T-Mo-(Moderator) 4,496 #7 Posted November 22, 2014 I'm with Jason, I like the "original" look better. But you still did a great job on the things you did to it. Nice job.

grnlark 487 #12 Posted November 29, 2014 A few days ago I fabricated a carb flange to adapt this Tecumseh canister air cleaner sideways. I wanted to do something other than the original oil bath but also wanted something that might have looked somewhat factory at the time.
Ken B 3,164 #13 Posted November 29, 2014 Like anything you do Matt that looks very nice. It can always be changed back to stock quite easily.
grnlark 487 #14 Posted November 29, 2014 Like anything you do Matt that looks very nice. It can always be changed back to stock quite easily. Thanks Ken. That's exactly what I'm doing - making sure any mod I do is very easily reversible. I could have the tractor back 100% stock in literally a half hour at this point.
Digger 66 3,478 #15 Posted November 29, 2014 Looks nice, but I actually like the original look better on those. Nice custom though. Enjoy it! Yup , me too ^ But it's your ride .
19richie66 17,508 #16 Posted November 29, 2014 Ok, maybe I am missing something here. Other than a lower stance and the air cleaner, what has been changed. I like it stock but I love it the way it looks now. Maybe its because I don't come from a farming background. I love hotrods but not overdone show cars. This is tastefully done and still is the same tractor. Think I will do this with my cub. Well done.
grnlark 487 #17 Posted November 29, 2014 I totally appreciate differing opinions. Not everyone likes the same thing. At heart I'm an originality nut, but I wanted something a little meaner looking. The modified axle is just one main center bolt. That's it and it's out. Wheels are just lug nuts and the air cleaner is two screws.

grnlark 487 #20 Posted December 20, 2014 In keeping with my theme of "all show and no go" (because I have zero interest in tractor pulling), progress so far on my pulling hitch is coming out pretty sweet. Probably the only pulling hitch that will never see dirt or a scratch. Lol
