wheelhorse66 10 #4 Posted November 19, 2014 (edited) Yes it's a starter on it now. It's not on no tractor yet just getting it ready to put it on one but I like the generator starters better. Edited November 19, 2014 by wheelhorse66

rmaynard 15,767 #7 Posted November 19, 2014 Couple of things that I would check first. Make sure that there is enough room between the engine and the gas tank for the generator to fit. You will need the proper mounting and adjusting brackets to afix it to the engine. You will possibly need a different blower cover that does not have a hump for the starter Bendix. You will need a pulley to mount onto the flywheel. You will need a belt and a belt cover. If you are going to use the starter/generator as a generator as well, I would recommend removing the stator from behind the flywheel if the engine has one. If you are only using the S/G as a starter, then the stator (if you have one) can remain and be attached to the regulator/rectifier for DC power and charging. wheelhorse66 10 #8 Posted November 24, 2014 I'm planning on rewiring everything were I can use the generator for charging power
"D"- Man 827 #9 Posted November 24, 2014 I have heard that the starter/generator may not be powerful enough to turn the 12 HP engine over, might want to check first, Mark.
Fordiesel69 263 #10 Posted November 25, 2014 If working properly, and the compression release is ok, then yes it will work perfect. Often there is issues with the compression release being worn out, and not picking up the valve enough, or the motor is weak from an internal problem.
