new headlights

Hi all,

a few days ago i posted a topic on the 'electronics' board asking about headlights on an A-800, after being assured it will be fine i stumbled across a pair of old style lamps. they came with 55W H3 bulbs but i'm not sure if they will be too much for the charging system?? either way i'll be getting some CREE LED replacement bulbs each being 7.5W and have their own lenses to focus the light.

so, here's the pictures:

thanks for looking,

Callum

thanks all,

I will order the bulbs this week, do you think earthing the lights to the bonnet will be okay or should i run the earth the chassis? baring in mind the negative lead of the battery goes to the engine block.

thanks again,

callum

If the only path you have to ground is the hinge , definitely run the negative to the frame or block .

Agree, otherwise they flicker on tick over as the hood vibrates :D (apparently)

i could see that happening! it would be especially bad being LEDs as filament bulb etc fade off, LEDs don't!!

Or run a ground-strap from hood to frame .

yeah might do the ground strap, keep wires to a minimum.

i don't mow at night neither do i plow, but i intend to take it to events etc, plus lights are just cool!
