motor12 367 #1 Posted November 8, 2014 Being new to the world of vintage Wheel Horse tractors, I have not figured out what the number 5 in my model 854 stands for. I was told the 8 is for 8 hp and I am almost sure the 4 stands for 1964. If I don't ask, I won't know.
bmsgaffer 2,043 #2 Posted November 8, 2014 Some say electric start, some say it has to do with the transmission (it has the unidrive, if it had a 0 it was a three peice, and pull start, i think) it may be both... If it had a 7 it was hydro... Someone will jump in if im too far off.
CasualObserver 3,407 #3 Posted November 8, 2014 Here's a topic from a quick search. This has been discussed many times but is a little hard to search for if you can't hit any good keywords from the topic... And frankly the keywords are really commonly used ones!
