wholdguy 73 #1 Posted November 6, 2014 Hey Guys..... My son is deciding if he should buy a certain Ford 8N tractor near his home. He sent a photo of some kind of attachment on the right side of the hood. Does anyone know what this attachment is used for? Thanks in advance. G.
TT-(Moderator) 1,131 #2 Posted November 7, 2014 It's a cyclonic separator to remove the "heavies" (larger dirt particles) from the air before they reach the filter media. The tube on the bottom is missing the flange where the catcher jar would attach. Scroll down part way on this page for more info:
wholdguy 73 #3 Posted November 8, 2014 Terry Thanks so much for the description of the 8N cyclonic separator. Now it makes sense why it is there on the tractor. Also the link was very interesting. G. Wheel Horse Charger 12.
6wheeler 603 #4 Posted November 17, 2014 Very good Terry..... Also available on the 9N. Sort of a gimmic. Did it work? Well, yeah. Sort of. It did keep the large chaf out. But, the air cleaner did that anyway. It did look neat on a tractor. We had one on a 8N that we got at an auction. Never did hook it up, But it was still on the side of the hood when the new owner hauled it away.
