flyovrcntry 115 #1 Posted November 3, 2014 Here it is 4:00 in the morning and cant sleep, up looking for something to work on As I wrote in another post that I am being treated for cancer. I feel like 40 again. The Oncologist told me it would be like this .He also told me it will not last for long. He said next week I will be sick as hell. This is because of the Steroid in the chemo. I just keep going and going,up and down the stairs, cleaning things up, moving things.LOL it's cool to remember how you felt and what you could do. This lead me to the subject of steroids and sports, I don't know how but the connection came up.I am certainly no athlete. But this episode of my steroid use has made me believe that any award given, and any bonus paid to an athlete should be taken away. The award and money should be given to the next player who is willing to be tested and passes the drug use. I know I could not be doing all I am doing now without the drug. And I'm not just talking steroids, I mean all performance enhancing drug. OK that's my enhanced rant for today,so there's no charge

RMCIII 838 #3 Posted November 3, 2014 (edited) Bob - could not agree with you more, but as the ole saying goes, "those who dope get the most!" I can speak from experience on this topic. It is part of my testimony. I became a human pin cushion. I tried everything there was. Single or stacked to see what worked best for my body and the gains I would get. When the professional world is layered with drugs, it is really frustrating, for someone who is trying to do it right. So as a 19yr. old who wanted to play semi pro football, I tried out for the team, overseas. I made it to the very last week of cuts, then I was let go. I was 180lbs, and could run a 5.00 40. < That is slow for the 40. I got so mad and someone whispered in my ear. You can make the team you just need a little help. He then asked me, "do you think all the players are natural?" Coming from a very small farm community I had no idea what he was talking about. He said try some of these. He had a bottle of test, and deca. I walked away from the offer and said "no thanks, I can do it on my own". Well, time went on and I saw others getting bigger and stronger than I was in less time. I gave in and took the stuff. 6 months later I am 220lbs and leg pressing well over 1,000lbs for 6 to 8 reps. I had not gone out for spring practice because I found out I enjoyed working out and building muscles. The defensive coach walked into the weight room and saw me under the leg press machine with 1,100lbs. on the sled. I finished my set and he came over to talk with me. He offered me starting defensive end, no questions asked and no practice time to be made up. He had not even seen if I was slower or faster in the 40. He just came over, saw my new look, and said "I need you". Well, the results did not lie either. BTW, in case anyone does not know, the real 40 is done at the end of practice when you are tired and have nothing else to give. My 40 time was a 4.45. < That is a fast time for the 40 in 1991. Needless to say, after just 1 practice I had all the coaches’ attention. No one asked me how I did it, nor did they even care. They just smiled and kept saying "nice job". I am not trying to build a case for the use of drugs, but I can speak from experience, if you want to go pro, you better have some REALLY GREAT genetics, or count on finding another career. Drugs are so thick in every professional sport. You may not think it would be, like tennis..... But they load up on blood doping. Helps them to have additional oxygen throughout the tournament.
