Fuel Tank Restoration

Recommended Posts

jeremyrschroeder

So I just cleaned out my fuel tank with apple cinder vinegar and ran it in the dryer with a lot of bolts. It is rust free and pretty solid. Should a fellar treat the tank in any way to prevent it from rusting or is it okay to put gas in it now with now sealer? If so on the sealer any recommendations?

Yeah I was just looking at this Red-kote and the auto store but its $30. Aware of others too  - but more curious if its necessary if your tank is not rusty and doesn't have holes etc..These type of sealer are made to usually coat over rust and look terrible. So would rather not spend the $ on making it look back if it's really not needed, but not sure if it needed??

I've used red kote with good results but if you don't have any holes I don't see why would you need it unless you are wanting to be on the safe side
