WheelHorse79 271 #4 Posted October 20, 2014 My Dad had a Woods bush hog mower on the back of our '55 Oliver in the '70 's that used blades like that. They would prevent damage to the mower gear box if he hit a stump or something out in the field. There was also a shear pin if the blades hit something really solid.
