wake49 18 #26 Posted October 22, 2014 I don't know if I have a small sledge home. I will have to check. Think a 16 oz framing hammer will work?

pfrederi 18,223 #28 Posted October 22, 2014 If the relatively soft woodruff key is damaging your chisel, I think I would not buy that brand of chisel again.
wake49 18 #29 Posted October 22, 2014 It was an old, crummy chisel anyway. I was more surprised at how relentless this key is!
wake49 18 #30 Posted October 27, 2014 Ok. It is out! I drilled three holes down into the key, shot some PB down in there, and when I tapped on it (with a four pound sledge) from the wheel end it bent up and out of the keyway. It took everything I had yesterday (about an hour and a half), so I will work on the seals later this week.
pacer 3,175 #31 Posted October 27, 2014 I tapped on it (with a four pound sledge) "tapped" with a 4 pound sledge --I like it. It really amazing how something like this can turn into such an ordeal, glad you got it out...
