Geno 1,929 #2 Posted October 11, 2014 (edited) What better than to spend some QT with dad anytime, let alone making Horse stuff. And just where did you get all that fancy equipment? Edited October 11, 2014 by Geno

AJ_Thanatos 516 #12 Posted October 11, 2014 Just need to drill some holes and counter bore them. And slap some shiny paint on them. And on the tractor!

KC9KAS 4,741 #14 Posted October 11, 2014 Wow, that is so neat. We have a Tool & Die department (at work) with all the goodies too. I have wondered what it would cost to have a set of weights made like yours! They are pretty "proud" of their work & products, so I probably couldn't afford to have them made even with an employee discount!
chipwitch 73 #15 Posted October 11, 2014 Those are really nice weights. Very sharp. I've thought about making my own, but the cost of steel is about what you could get the cast weights for use. Of course if you have a spare hunk of 11" round rod laying around taking up space, what the heck... nothing like a custom look.

KC9KAS 4,741 #18 Posted October 11, 2014 Baby Moons! Yeah, for a little more weight, you could have made the outside into a dome.
AJ_Thanatos 516 #19 Posted October 11, 2014 (edited) Let's not get crazy.. Im lucky I pulled this off on a lathe. But they should be heavy enough. Per my calculations they should be about 87 lbs. Each And thank you all. It wouldn't be possible without my Dad. It was really nice to spend the day with him in his world.[emoji2] Edited October 11, 2014 by AJ_Thanatos

tbarnhart 240 #23 Posted October 12, 2014 Awesome weights. I was curious how thick they are. I made something similar in a different way. We have a large fabrication shop nearby that keeps thick plate and has the equipment to cut any shape. I went to them and bought 2 circles 11.5 in. in diameter that were 1 in thick and 2 that were 10 in. in diameter and 2.75 in thick. I centered the smaller/thicker ones on the larger ones and welded them together, then welded four 3/8 bolts to the back at the right spacing to match the holes in the wheels. They weigh a little over 90 pounds and sit about flat with the outside of the wheel. I think they look a little odd with just a flat surface and thought about some sort of logo decal, but it would probably just get scratched off. The 160 is more stable and will pull the plow or grade the drive like never before.
chipwitch 73 #24 Posted October 12, 2014 How about a cnc WH logo hub?
AJ_Thanatos 516 #25 Posted October 12, 2014 (edited) I think I'm going to look on Terrys site for a big horse logo. The entire plate thickness is 3.5" Edited October 12, 2014 by AJ_Thanatos
