Zeek 2,286 #1 Posted October 10, 2014 (edited) To my south central PA friends: A neighbor had a 50's model round hood, metal seat, black wheels, side discharge deck with one bad bearing stolen between 10/3-10. That's what he he knows about it, thus the description. If you happen to see something like that pop up for sale somewhere nearby, PM me please. Thanks. rmaynard 15,421 #3 Posted October 10, 2014 I will be on the lookout down here Zeek. I'm always looking for a nice round hood. Now chances are I will find one and it will be stolen.
19richie66 17,499 #4 Posted October 10, 2014 (edited) Geno wasnt in PA last week was he? Maybe he bought it so cheap the seller felt he stole it, lol Edited October 10, 2014 by 19richie66
stevasaurus 22,700 #5 Posted October 10, 2014 That is a shame for sure Zeek...hopefully it wasn't a scrapper. Scrappers will steal anything that is not nailed down...we lost a trailer that was made out of a 1950 Ford pickup a couple years ago. You may want to notify any junk yards in the area...no pictures I take it.

squonk 41,017 #7 Posted October 10, 2014 Scrappers will take anything. I was on a roof one day launching air filters like a Frisbee towards a dumpster below. There were a couple of meat heads dumpster diving and started yelling at me. They were lucky I didn't start throwing a bunch of metal cased filters down there. They are like small window AC's and would have knocked someone out!
stevasaurus 22,700 #8 Posted October 10, 2014 Scrappers have actually stripped of aluminum siding off of houses while the owners were inside sleeping around here. I can't tell you how much phone cable they have stolen from new subdivisions when I worked for the phone company. They actually slit our chain link fence at the yard and stole the cable out of that. bowtieguy 334 #9 Posted October 10, 2014 I've had a "round nose" WH parked on my driveway most of the summer (702)...a couple weeks ago a guy from "inter-city" KC pulled in and said he had been watchin' that ole lawn mower and wondered if I was going to throw it away...needless to say I jotted his lic # as he drove away (without the WH) but he got a piece of my mind!!
stevasaurus 22,700 #10 Posted October 10, 2014 (edited) Hey Frank...at least he stopped and asked about it. We horse hunters have been doing that for years...looking down tree lines...along houses and barns. The difference...we stop and ask. It was probably Geno that stopped. groundhog47 347 #11 Posted October 10, 2014 (edited) I'm a scrapper recycler and won't touch something without someone's ok with the authority to do so. Here I've intentionally put stuff prominent for the locals and they take care of a LLOOTT of junk I' don't wish to mess with. The one that got Zeek's associates unit was a plain ole thief, true scrappers should have scruples, but one bad apple......need to use culprit as a harrow in third gear on dry ground with fire ants, rocks and cactus! Lagersolut 648 #12 Posted October 10, 2014 After the " housing crash " scrappers were going in empty sheriff sale houses and gutting the flex copper - some didn't even bother turning the water off ......about 2 years ago a pair tried to get the copper off a feed ( electric ) going into a Kmart on the roof - they died . I don't know if they were up there with a bolt cutters or hack saw , but whatever they were going for cost both of them their lives .
Geno 1,929 #13 Posted October 10, 2014 (edited) Geno wasnt in PA last week was he? Maybe he bought it so cheap the seller felt he stole it, lol No I haven't gone up there yet. Hey Frank...at least he stopped and asked about it. We horse hunters have been doing that for years...looking down tree lines...along houses and barns. The difference...we stop and ask. boovuc 1,090 #14 Posted October 10, 2014 I'll watch up here in the North-central part of the state. There were some homes left unattended that they pulled the copper out of and flooded the places in the dead of winter. They aren't scrappers. They are druggies and they don't give a rat's a#* about anything other than their next fix.

flyovrcntry 115 #18 Posted October 11, 2014 It was probably 40 years ago someone stole the copper gutters off a church down the road from me. Now you see where they steal ac units. I saw a house one day that the steel housing was in pieces on the ground and they had taken the alum. I went to school with a guy they found hanging from a tower with bolt cutters.
