Martin 2,133 #26 Posted October 31, 2014 the weld spatter is one of the drawbacks. most times you can just knock the surrounding stuff off or run a disc over it to smooth things out. makes it hard to do that in tight corners. the gas setup is much nicer, but with a little practice you can get a good finish with flux core. I've found some type of mig dip (spatter gard) on the tip of the gun helps too. sometimes some scrap pieces of steel can be laid right next to the area you are working on to avoid a lot of spatter sticking to your work as well...... 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Catmanii 36 #28 Posted November 1, 2014 I just use flux core myself. I don't use the wire feed enough to fool with gas. It does spatter more, but with a little effort will clean up real nice.
