Most all of the parts are finally here including a new mounting plate and heat shield that Scot made for us. I thought you guys may want to see how we do things around here. Geno 1,929 #3 Posted October 3, 2014 It had a little smaller battery that worked fine for years so the customer let us have the space behind it. We are putting a much wider plate for the electrical there and made a heat shield to help with heat. We got it in the shop last night and have been getting the plate and shield mounted, running new battery cables, and 8 gauge feeds to the distribution blocks on top this morning. 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
Martin 2,132 #4 Posted October 3, 2014 (edited) I'm enjoying the pics, Geno. want plenty more of the progress. i just love doing stuff like this. nice to see a good repair and not a patch job, nothing worse than seeing half a## work....... you are lucky to have somebody close to make up nice metalwork like this, just so used to hand fabricating everything and the machine produced work just looks right and so quick. Geno 1,929 #5 Posted October 3, 2014 Scot is pretty amazing when it comes to metal. I got an old piece of cardboard at the shop, laid the parts on it, and marked the holes and top of the cowl pattern. He took it to his shop, took a pic of it and imported it into the plasma cutter. After aligning all the holes perfect he hit the cut button and both parts were made in 2 minutes. Still freaks me out how easy he does that stuff. 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
Geno 1,929 #6 Posted October 3, 2014 Plate and shield is in, starting on the live circuit first. Battery cables are installed, the 8 gauge hot and ground feeds are at the blocks. km3h 543 #8 Posted October 3, 2014 Great work Geno. Like Martin said it is really nice to have a metal man so close. When I was building Amateur Radio equipment, it was drill and nibble.
