wholdguy 73 #1 Posted September 26, 2014 I am getting ready to do the first fluid change on this Charger 12 that I bought this summer. Today I picked up the NAPA 1410 filter and 4 qts Dexron III. My question is how to go about draining the old fluid. Where is the drain plug or maybe the bolt to remove for draining? Should the tranny be cold or hot for the best fluid drain? G. scotty 252 #2 Posted September 26, 2014 My drain plug was on the bottom of the transmission. i ran it a little just because i feel like it flows a little better. This was on a gt 14.
wholdguy 73 #3 Posted September 28, 2014 Thanks Scotty I was too busy today to get out and take a close look at it. I should get the chance to look on Sunday. G.
wholdguy 73 #4 Posted September 29, 2014 Okay guys I did it today. I backed it up onto the car ramps and crawled under and found the drain plug, it used a 1/4 inch hex wrench and was simple to remove. I removed the transmission dipstick and the fluid drained out very quickly. No problem. However, removing the filter was no picnic. Of course it was on way too tight and was stuck. I finally worked it loose. The old fluid was Dexron so I filled it with 4 qts Dexron III. It poured right in, no issues with air bubbles etc. The filter I used was the NAPA 1410. When I started the motor and ran the hydro forward and reverse, all worked as normal, so I'm happy to have the maintenance finished. G.
