Njhicks88 1 #1 Posted September 25, 2014 (edited) My grandpa left me and old lawn tractor he had and other than knowing its a wheel horse I know nothing about it. I was wondering where I dentifrice toon number might be or if anyone can tell me what model it is. I believe it is a 1960's model from searching the web. oldredrider 2,553 #3 Posted September 25, 2014 Your tractor is either a 953 or 1054. 1963 or 1964 model.

Martin 2,133 #12 Posted September 27, 2014 (edited) Some close up pics of the headlights, steering wheel, steering box and any serial decal on the hoodstand (not sure if you said it's there or not). The serial is on a decal with the gear shift pattern and its placed on the hoodstand just forward of the shifter and just below the dash. Geno 1,929 #13 Posted September 27, 2014 (edited) A pic of the spindle where it curves just inside the wheel will tell you if it's and 953 or 1054 at least also. Edited September 27, 2014 by Geno
Martin 2,133 #14 Posted September 27, 2014 (edited) Geno, i think your mistaken with the spindles, the 953 and 1054 don't have curved or bent spindles, they are two lengths of round stock welded together at an angle and they have a small piece of flat for reinforcement..... heres the best pic i have right now.... prondzy 3,883 #15 Posted September 27, 2014 martin is right in his thoughts. the differences are in those details. there never was a 853 and a 1045 is a completely different tractor.
Geno 1,929 #16 Posted September 27, 2014 (edited) I messed those numbers up good, it's been a long day, I will fix them . If you look in the parts manuals the 953 didn't have the reinforcement. That's how I narrowed mine to a 1054. Edited September 27, 2014 by Geno
