Another Set of Handlebars

Picked this up today to fill a gap in horsepower. It is a 1981 5240. This is the lightest and fairly rare of the post-Studebaker Gravely tractors which didn't sell well due to the slope hood and pull start. It has an  8hp Kohler K181T and the desirable eight-speed transmission. There are some issues with the engine so it may be a candidate for a re-power. The Gravely is easy to do using an adapter plate. Most engines today have a common bolt pattern so it is just an issue of the correct shaft input gears and adapter. Even a clone diesel would fit. A gel cell or small AGM battery could be mounted to the hood to take advantage of the larger OHV singles' starter motor.post-3066-0-86125300-1411324450.jpgpost-3066-0-60734900-1411324465_thumb.jp

Sweet!! must have been stored inside too - no rust out! Those things were a brute, I think you could run over an anvil and it'd just chew it up and keep on goin...

Hi John

Picked up another one I see. That's a good looking Gravely. Will that model be capable of using the many optional attachments that they offered?

Take care

Mike

Just like Wheel Horse (except the early tractors and beloved 5xi,) Gravely used the same mounting from 1936-37 until the end of the two-wheel tractors with over 30 attachments. Even the Rapid when Gravely was trying to re-enter the two wheel market from 2006-2013 was capable of mating to the attachments! Use is just limited by horsepower.
