rmaynard 15,628 #2 Posted August 28, 2014 My guess is that the set-screw tip is worn. Get a new set-screw and while you are at it replace the woodruff key as well
scotty 252 #3 Posted August 28, 2014 Can I get them at Napa or are they toro only items?
rmaynard 15,628 #4 Posted August 29, 2014 Should be available anywhere good hardware is sold.
doc724 925 #5 Posted August 29, 2014 The key word in Maynard's reply is GOOD hardware. You want a cup point, square head, hardened set screw. Big Box stores don't usually carry the best variety.
scotty 252 #6 Posted August 29, 2014 turned out the woodruff key was completly worn out put both set screw and key in and is solved.
rmaynard 15,628 #7 Posted August 29, 2014 (edited) That set screw should be an Allen head, 5/16-18 x 5/16, and the woodruff key is 3/16 x 3/4. If you have a Fastenal in the area, they should have what you need. Oops, looks like you are one step ahead of me. kudzu3 323 #8 Posted August 31, 2014 My B 80 has two set screws. I didn't know that and the one on the key kept working loose until I found the other one and tightened it, seems to be fine now.
