Snow plow \ blade question

Recommended Posts

Geno

Picked up another trailer load yesterday :banghead:  and found a blade that had a more narrow frame than the others I have (left pic).  Is it for certain older + smaller tractors?  I also put a pic in here of another one with someones custom blade weights   :eusa-doh:

The 60's tractors used frames like that with the older style hitch

Geno, you're starting to tick me off. Will you leave some red for other folks? Better yet, send some down here. :)

I like the idea of the weights but the dangling would drive me even nuttier than I already am. I think those are old window counter weights. It amazes me how many uses those things have been used for.

They are window counter weights, they say 4 lbs each.  :)

Has anyone ever had to weight one of these plows?  I've got all this winter stuff but this winter will be the first time I've ever actually used any of it ever.

Personally I find the weight of the plow itself is plenty. I would think all that added weight will just wear out the cutting edge quicker.

Never thought of the cutting edge wearing quicker, thanks Mike.  :text-+1:

If you are using the plow for snow there is no need for weight if you are spreading dirt the weight will come in handy

Slammer, is that the original seat on your 8  ?   The one I just found has a two piece low back seat with a WH logo in the back. Just wondered which one is original ,

Mikes got a good point there. I used the blade on a 84 GT1100 which is the same setup as a C. I put a nut on the lift rod underneath the trunnion which allowed me to manually apply down pressure if I needed it. The downside to that was if the blade got itself pushed up the lift arm moved with it but I never had a problem with it.

You could add a straight bar say... 1 1/4 x 1/4 and strategically drill the holes in the right spot to connect directly to the lift rock shaft and the plow. This will allow you to apply a slight down pressure on the plow by using the handle. Worked on my 414-8   :eusa-think:
