SousaKerry 502 #27 Posted August 19, 2014 I parts wash mine and then cover the shafts in duct tape and sand blast the gears with a fine powdery media(usually worn out coal slag) The gears are hard enough that the sand blasting does not mar the surface but makes them look like new. I also sand blast the inside of the case with all the bearings removed. Cleaning is very important after sand blasting though. I actually sand blast engine blocks as well.
