LETS BEAT THE DEAD HORSE ,,,AGAIN,,,WHAT "ENGINE PAINT"

Recommended Posts

JERSEYHAWG / Glenn

Gentleman,,what have all the years experience around here taught us about engine paint.

As the 854 engine is getting ready for paint. what do most of you use?

I have read everything from high heat to just use whatever you used on the tractor to paint the engine.

my head is spinning .  Frankly I felt like just brushing on the regal red oil base and I mean 3 to 4 coats and spray the tins. I said to myself ask the fellas before you do, maybe something new came about that I missed.

Anyway, lets see how majority rules and what is said while I continue the tear down of said engine.

And as  :deadhorse: allways much thanks for INSIGHT!

Glenn

Real close to the Valspar IH red The engine tins in this Marvin pic is the Duplicolor engine enamel. The sheet metal is Napa Tractor red and the blower is original  :wh: red.

I use something I haven't seen much on here but I like, it is Krylon cherry red in the dual paint + primer. A tad darker but dries very fast.  I use the same on the engine as the sheet metal whatever the color.  The muffler gets black wood stove paint but it won't dry until baked which takes about 30 mins at half throttle.   :)
