kudzu3 323 #1 Posted August 6, 2014 I really wasn't sure where to post this question, so since it is a restoration project, I guess it'll be okay here. My '74 B 80 has a lever out of the bottom of the fuel pump, I'm not sure where this hooks to. It wasn't connected to anything when I got it. 953 nut 55,001 #2 Posted August 6, 2014 This is your lucky day! Your fuel pump has a primer built in to it, when it has been sitting for a while you just reach in and give the lever a couple of pulls and this will prime the fuel system. This kind of pump came on the pre 1966 and they are sort of hard to come by.
kudzu3 323 #3 Posted August 7, 2014 Well thanks So I guess I connect nothing to it.(?). If this came on pre '66, does that mean that it is not stock and is a replacement on my '74? Thanks for the info.
AMC RULES 37,125 #4 Posted August 7, 2014 Can we see a pict of this rare fuel pump please?
rmaynard 15,408 #5 Posted August 7, 2014 You are correct Kudzu. Nothing connects to the lever.
kudzu3 323 #6 Posted August 8, 2014 Okay, I'm gonna try to get a pic here of my "rare" fuel pump, hope it works. While I'm at it, I thought I'd post a few pics of my resto progress for your "viewing pleasure" . The hood is painted and drying in anticipation of the third, and hopefully final coat of regal red, I'll apply that Monday and hope it looks okay. Hasn't been cranked yet but planning to do that tomorrow, the K 181 was rebuilt and hopefully done right. Keep your fingers crossed for me.
