Gene_S 93 #1 Posted August 6, 2014 (edited) Mentone Indiana garden tractor show and swap meet. Starting this year we will be charging everyone selling parts a $5 selling fee. The reason for this fee is because the park is $50 a day and two day insurance is $200. We only made $86 in donations at the spring swap meet and that does not even cover the postage for me to mail flyers out. As I see it $5 isn't much and shouldn't scare any sellers off and wont cover all the cost but sure will help Richard and I out covering the rest. If any one has any questions please feel free to contact Richard or me. Thanks. Edited August 6, 2014 by Gene_S

GlenPettit 1,716 #3 Posted August 6, 2014 This is a really nice show, great people and really great deals on parts. I plan on being there, with everything . . . Glen
Lane Ranger 10,943 #4 Posted August 7, 2014 The $5.00 Fee is a very reasonable cost for the group of sellers and buyers that turn out at Mentone in the Spring and Fall. I always donate something but I am all for the fee as Richard Layne, Gene Simpson and Ken Stephens (before Gene) should not have to incur costs for others Wheel Horse enjoyment!
wheel-mule 46 #5 Posted August 12, 2014 As I go to about a dozen shows a year, the $5 fee is way too low. This year I have paid between $15 Jones,MI and $170 Greenville,OH.Most are $25 to $50.This been said I will donate at least $25 plus something for the fund raiser.I don't want to see this great show disapear because of funding.I think we can help can all help Gene and Richard out by making a little bigger donation. It takes a lot of work to put this on ,lets show them our appreation.
whfan74 2,066 #6 Posted August 12, 2014 I completely agree Chuck! I know first hand how much it takes to put on an event. There are many hidden costs to make the day a success. I am going to have to put out a donation jar at my show again this year to help cover insurance, disposables, port a potty, etc... I appreciate all of the time they put in to make Mentone a great event!
AJ_Thanatos 516 #7 Posted August 27, 2014 (edited) Sorry for my ignorance but is this a "show" as well or just a swap meet? Oh and will there be other tractors? I have Cub buddy that might want to attend.. Edited August 27, 2014 by Thanatos
whfan74 2,066 #8 Posted August 27, 2014 The fall is a show/swap meet and the spring is swap meet only. There is a mixture of brands represented and encouraged to attend. It is primarily Wheel Horse and we would all like to see some different machines to admire.

DanPatch 6 #19 Posted September 13, 2014 Just got home from the Mentone show. Had a great time. Enjoy talking to everyone and I bought lots of stuff. Really love the moldboard plow I picked up it will look great on the back of my tractors. Can't decide which one it looks the best on. Also enjoyed that "Chops Fire Pit". That is some good BBQ.

DOC in Kentucky 178 #23 Posted September 14, 2014 Great show and spent some time with some great friends but forgot to take a single pic! Thanks for all the interesting conversations and a lot of BS guys!!!
Lane Ranger 10,943 #24 Posted September 15, 2014 I had a great time at Mentone this Fall Swap Meet! David and I got to see a lot of our Red Square and Wheel Horse buddies from all around ! We sold a 500 Special and several other things. The sunshine and talking made the day go fast (we were only there Saturday). I did take a few pictures: Gene Simpson and Richard Layne deserve a big round of applause for another great show and swap meet held in Mentone, Indiana! Also make sure you get a least one meal at Teel's Restaurant in beautiful downtown Mentone when you go-breakfast or dinner ! If you walk across the street from Teel's Restaurant you can see the Giant Concrete Egg Mentone is famous for too!
