How do I properly id an 8pinion rear end?, I have a c160 and a c141 I've thought about messing with, but I don't want to get crazy without a good rear. They do both have 1 1/8 axle shafts, but is there more to check for?

I'be been told if you jack the rear end up and spin the wheels, if they turn the oposite direction it is a 8 or if they turn the same direction it is the 10 pinion.

Jake is correct.  :)  If you think that the transmissions are original on your horses...the C-160 has he #5091 trans and the C-141 has the #103916 trans.  They are basically the same...1 1/8" axles, 8 pinion, 8 speed.  If you had 1" axles, it would be a 4 pinion differential.  The 10 pinion "limited slip" differential is not even an option in your horses.  :)

Doing what Jake said would prove it.  :)

You definatly want the 8 pinion/8spd rear. The 4s just won't hold up, and the 10limited slip are useless on the track.
