99-LS1-SS 7 #1 Posted August 3, 2014 I just inherited a Wheel Horse lawn tractor. It has a scrap blade and a plow. It was my step-mother's father's tractor. She thinks it is around a 1970. I am new to Wheel Horses and I'm trying to figure out what I have. I don't know if it runs or not but, they said it ran a few years ago. The deck is in rough shape but the frame looks to be fairly solid. From what I can gather, from this site, it appears to have the big block Kohler motor. I have attached some pictures of what I have, fresh out of the barn.
AMC RULES 37,125 #2 Posted August 3, 2014 (edited) Sitting in the seat, up under the steering wheel, directly below the drivers controls... should find a a silver and black metal ID tag (like pictured) riveted to the top of the hood stand. Tag will have the model ID, and serial number stamped into it. After you find it, post your numbers here. Edited August 3, 2014 by AMC RULES

99-LS1-SS 7 #7 Posted August 3, 2014 Thank you for the link to the documents. How hard will it be to get a new or used mowing deck that is in better shape than my current deck? It's been patched and the rear of the deck is suspended by a chain.
gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,026 #8 Posted August 3, 2014 Tankman's photo shows the setup in 1967 with the pto belt idlers below the engine. In 1973 the idlers were moved to the front of the tractor like yours so decks from 1973 up to 2014 for the C-Series except C-195 and 300, 400 and 500-Series tractors should fit. That goes for any other front mounted attachment also. Garry This style of tractor ended in 2007 but they made the model 78345 42in side discharge deck and the 78350 42in rear discharge deck again in 2014.
