I have a 1981 C175 that I am in the process of restoring. I am using Krylon cherry red on the body. My question is what luster of black is used on the hood and the engine?

Thanks. Your tractor looks good. I like the fenders. I had to make some for mine. The plastic ones are destroyed. I would post some pictures but I have not figured that out yet.

Did mine with gloss black, love it. Just wet sand between coats and it will make all the difference between OK and really nice. Just my two cents!

Any metal b or c series fender will fit as long as it has the tank under the seat and all 300, 400 ,500 series steel fenders will fit as well. Youd do better to get a set off ebay and put them on. Its much cheaper than building your own....

There is also a guy on Ebay who makes fiberglass replicas of the fender pans, they are expensive though.

C-85

I've recently refinished the hoods on my 2 black hoods and I used satin black.  I don't believe the factory used gloss, but I could be wrong.  I wrestled with this decision, I pretty sure that they didn't use flat, but I wasn't sure on gloss vs. satin.  In any case I am pleased with how they came out.

No need to wrestle with it...they were satin black from the factory. I know of a factory original C-85 and its a satin black hood....

I also chose Satin. My two original hood colors were almost certainly in a flat whether it was flat flat or a satin I couldnt tell but I thought it more likely a satin.
