We got this in at work.

It has a stencil that reads:

 WAR FINISH

AS DIRECTED BY ORDER L-108

UNITED STATES

WAR PRODUCTION BOARD

Which dates it to WW2.  it is also stamped with U.S.N. 2G82A .

Yes, pull the lever down, turn the top wheel for fast movement of the ram,  push the lever up ans turn the large wheel for extremely slow but powerful ram movement, you can put an 1 1/2" round bar in the wheel for a little more umph

If I remember correct, I had seen one of those once before, their main purpose was for pressing out bearings from destroyers and tanks. Although it was used for many other smaller tasks, but the main puurpose was for the "massive" bearings.

I used to work in a shop that had a similar one. Saw a guy destroy a universal joint with one!  :)

It got painted a flat machinery gray with a gold plaque.  A guy bought it today so its going to new home.

I have no way of knowing where it started at.  All I know is the boss got a call from a friend that told him to get a scrap yard about an hour away to check out what was brought in.
