WHAT DO YOU USE TO BRING THE PAINT BACK?

I have several tractors I would like to restore the paint by polishing instead of repainting. Every time I try to do something like this I end up with a dull finish which I believe is due to minute scratches I put in the finish. I have seen some really fantastic jobs by some of you guys and am wondering how you do this and what you use.

It all depends on the condition of the finish. If you have paint with no rust, just dull, you can use automotive compound. If the paint is rusted, there is nothing you can do short of repainting if you want to get the color back.  Just my worth.

The paint is oxidized there is no rust. A simple wax job is not enough. Every time I use rubbing compound I get into trouble. Maybe I am not using the right kind??????

Well I hope my will look a lot better when it is finished. Of course Denny did not have what I have to work with. He did a great job on that tractor. What a difference.

I sold a Toyota Tercel once that looked like a Pumpkin. After Nu-Finish, It looked like a brand new Orange billiard ball!

Meguiar's body scrub makes old oxidized paint look new. Especially the color red.

If the paint is oxidized or severely faded:

1. Compound 
2. Swirl Remover
3. Wax

I've had good luck with Meguiars Compound and Polish with my HF Polisher/Sander. But for some reason, my 1990 520-H was faded and I still could not bring it back. It was shiny  when I finished but still faded. That was when Toro started labeling the tractors as theirs. Maybe they had a change in paint formula?
